Dad’s Army continues to march on. Members may have noticed that water is now flowing into the fresh water dam from Cadbury’s. It may not look like there is much water coming in, but please be assured, that the Club will benefit greatly from what we are receiving. The pathway around the side of the fresh water dam has now been completed in so far as the 9th tee areas and a short distance down the fairway near the practice area. I am sure that everybody will agree that this is a vast improvement on what was there before. We continue to ask members to be especially careful around the new trees. and if you do see any damage to the trees or stakes that may have fallen down it would be appreciated if you could notify the green staff or our Manager. Dad’s Army will continue to work in and around the course and we are always looking for new helpers. If you have some spare time on a Thursday just come on out to the Club in the morning and we can always find something for you to do. If you can’t make it on Thursdays then the Club will be extremely grateful for any assistance that you can give at any other time. An hour of your time will allow for so much to be done. Please consider helping. |

The State Final of the Barclay Shield will be held at Kingston Beach Golf Club on Monday 29th September. Our representatives in this event are Jo Brown and Ronnie Luttrell together with Ann Grubb and myself.
Bronze Stableford State Final is being held at Riverside this year on Monday 10th November. This event is for players with a handicap of 27 and over giving players in C Grade the opportunity to play in a State event. Our representatives this year are Ronnie Luttrell and Teena Fuglsang.
Our Club has a team in the Holden Scramble semi final in Melbourne on the 6th October. Jenny Greenhill, Olga McGuire and Pauline Martin won the Southern event and will be accompanied by Anthony Rowlings in this event. We wish all Club representatives good golfing at their respective events.
Keep in mind Melbourne Cup day is fast approaching. The ladies organise a mixed, ladies and men’s event on this day. The event is a Pinehurst foursome and over the past years has proved to be a lot of fun. The golf game is followed by a luncheon and sweeps finishing with the running of the Cup. The few men we have playing enjoy the day and it would be nice to see more support for this event. |
