Captain’s Comment |
|
I would like to thank all the Members who encouraged me to run again for the position of Club Captain and for those members who voted for me. Your comments and support were a vital factor in my decision to renominate.
The following members, Shane McKay, Dave Bennetts, Simon Direen, Roland Curley, Dave Direen, Mick Miller, Graeme Allery, Greg Fooks, Dad's Army as a complete body, Kerry Christie, Mick Smith, Steve Lord, Dave Jackman, Paul Barrett, David Bliss, Nigel Booth and John Green have provided great Assistance in what ever they could offer during the last 18 months. Without their help or equipment, material and labour used to maintain and improve our course, the work we have done would not be possible. This has greatly reduced the overall cost of maintaining the course. So if you see these members around the Club please thank them for their support and efforts to improve the Club.
I would also like to thank all the silent members who repair more than their own divots and plug marks. It is great to see members taking pride in their course.
The 6th bunker has now been completed and is in play. Certain areas around the bunker will still be GUR until the new grass has been established.
The Course Committee has recommended that the grey water dam be designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area and will be designated as a Lateral Water Hazard. This came into play on the 12th September, 2008. Please read the Notice Board to make yourselves familiar with the Rule if your ball is hit into the grey water dam.
Our scheduled working bee on the 21st September, 2008 has received some good commitments and in anticipation I would like to thank all those members for committing their time to improve the course. Also remember, if you could spare some time whenever you can to help on the course it would be appreciated. If you can donate an hour on any day of the week please give the Club a call and I am certain we can find a job for you to do.
Members may notice a new blue bin next to the 10th tee. This bin has been filled with seeded topsoil and we ask all members to replenish their sand Buckets with this soil and distribute it on to the 10th fairway to encourage new growth. Please then refill your buckets with sand at the 11th tee.
Claremont Golf Club had a great pennant season last year playing in 5 of the 6 finals with Division 5 successfully winning their Division. We will be Attempting to better this record in the coming season and to achieve this aim the Club requires a motivated Pennant Coordinator. Please contact me on 0419157004 of John Edwards on 6249 1000 if you are interested. |
